Additional Notes:
Born April 8, 1943, Robbie Ellis has gone from old school before it was “Old School” in the 80s and 90s to surprise audiences and wrestling peers after the turn of the century with high-flying lucha moves learned first from Brian Walsh, and more recently from Mike Quackenbush and Chris Hero of Chikara. Most recently he executed a plancha from the second rope to his opponent and his opponent’s manager standing on the floor below the ring. He was a babyface for the whole early and large part of his career, then became an unbeatable heel, a persona which remains the same but which audiences now cheer. Ellis says of himself, “If I cut off my head, these high flying moves wouldn’t surprise anyone. Well, if I could live without it, that is. Then again, I suppose it would still look pretty strange.”
